Sanctuaries and Religion

Our ancestors believed in many gods. We find their statues, and sometimes they are equipped with inscriptions, so we know some gods by name, e.g., Taranis ruled the sky, sun, and storms, Teutates was the god of war, Cernunnos with deer antlers was the lord of wild animals and forest mysteries, and Epona was the goddess of horses. In addition, they also worshipped power animals (boars, horses, deer, dogs, and water birds), which is evidenced by frequent findings of their figurines or depictions. According to ancient records, the Celts also worshipped natural elements such as springs, rocks, and trees. This is evidenced by deposits found here – treasures of sacrificed objects (jewelry, coins, or weapons).
