Czech Goose

The Czech Goose is a national breed of domestic goose, known for its excellent hardiness and low maintenance. Its pure white feathers, long slender neck, and proud posture make it a distinctive inhabitant of the open-air museum. In The Land Of the Celts, geese settled in 2023.

Geese are exclusively herbivorous and very social – they feel best in a group. They can lay up to 40 eggs annually, which are approximately five times larger than chicken eggs. They love water and enjoy bathing in puddles when it rains. Occasionally, you may encounter them outside their enclosure, proudly strutting around the area.

The first goose breeding is documented from the time of the Celts. Not only was their meat valued, but also their quality feathers – which could be used, for example, to make fletching for arrows.

Please do not disturb or chase the geese – they are very vigilant and carefully guard their territory. If they approach you, stay calm and do not provoke them. Respect their safe space and do not enter the enclosure.
