Highland Cattle
Highland cattle are among the most resilient breeds that can withstand harsh conditions even in winter. You can easily recognize them – massive body, long thick fur, and prominent curved horns that inspire both respect and admiration. An adult male can weigh up to 650 kg and reach a height of 120–140 cm at the withers.
The Celts kept cattle primarily for meat and as draught animals. They also made vessels from their horns, so-called drinking horns, which were adorned with bronze fittings and used during lavish feasts.
We call our young bull Macík. He moved here in May 2023 and comes from the Zoo Park Vyškov, where he was an orphan dependent on the care of breeders. Thanks to close contact with humans from an early age, he is calm, friendly, and tolerates human presence well.
Nevertheless, please remain behind the fence and do not feed Macík – he has his own daily routine and diet, which is taken care of by his keepers.
