How Did Our Ancestors Travel?
Perhaps the most common mode of transportation was walking, but in the La Tène period, people could already choose from other options as well. Horseback riding is evidenced by findings of iron or bronze spurs and harness components. The existence of two-wheeled or four-wheeled wagons is documented by their discoveries in graves or even their depictions, and they are also mentioned by ancient authors. Two-wheeled vehicles were used for rapid transportation and also in combat. Four-wheeled ones were used primarily for transporting goods. However, the existence of two-wheeled carts can also be considered. For water transport, boats and rafts of various types were used.
