Domestic Goats

Domestic goats are among the oldest livestock animals ever – people have been breeding them for more than 10,000 years. In the oppidum, you can meet them since 2019. Goats are undemanding, curious, and with proper handling, friendly as well. They usually graze on grassy areas within the complex, where they have constant access to fresh pasture.

The Celts utilized everything from the animal – from skin and bones to horns. They valued milk and meat the most.

The goats in the open-air museum are accustomed to human presence and occasionally allow themselves to be petted. Nevertheless, we ask for caution – unexpected movements or careless approach may startle them, and they could unintentionally injure you.
